1918 - First national Convention, Indianapolis, IN
with Mamie L. Bass,first national president

1926 - First Classification Guide adopted

1931 - Permanent headquarters established in
Chicago, IL

1935 - Altrusa became International with extension
into Mexico

1946 - First Altrusa representative to the United
Nations appointed

1949 - Altrusa insignia changed to reflect
international status

1962 - Altrusa International Foundation,Inc.
established

1977 - Action for Literacy adopted as an ongoing
service project of Altrusa International,Inc.

1982 - Long Range Planning process initiated.

1987 - Convention body approves issuing invitations
to membership to eligible business and
professional men.

1992 - 75th Anniversary in Nashville,TN

1993 - Altrusa organized in Russia

1994 - Altrusa organized in Ukraine

1997 - International Foundation announces Club 21
program to benefit children with HIV or AIDS

2000 - Three new clubs on three continents for the
new century -Hibiscus Coast,New Zealand;
Holiday Valley, Washington; Zolotovera,
Ukraine
